India Crush Pakistan by 88 Runs to Stay Unbeaten in Women’s World Cup 2025

India women celebrate victory against Pakistan after a dominant 88-run win in the Women’s World Cup 2025 match — India vs Pakistan Women’s ODI.

There’s something special about an India vs Pakistan Women’s ODI. The energy, the emotion, and the pride it’s unlike any other fixture in cricket. On Sunday, October 5, at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, India once again showed why this contest has never truly been a rivalry on the women’s side. With an 88-run win, India extended their flawless record to 12-0 against Pakistan since 2005.

Watching this match felt like déjà vu Pakistan putting up a fight, but India finding a way to stay one step ahead.

India’s batting wasn’t picture-perfect this time. The team struggled for rhythm, losing wickets at regular intervals, and none of the batters managed to reach a half-century. Still, every player chipped in just enough to push the total to 247 before being bowled out.

Smriti Mandhana’s early dismissal (23) was disappointing, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s brief stay (19 off 34) didn’t help either. Harleen Deol looked solid once again, falling just short of a fifty with a well-made 46. Pratika Rawal’s fluent 31 and Deepti Sharma’s calm 25 added crucial runs in the middle.

But it was Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 35 off 20 balls that changed the tempo. Coming in late, she played with intent and energy, reminding everyone of her finishing ability. Even though India’s total didn’t look massive, it turned out to be more than enough.

When Pakistan began their chase, the intent was there, but the execution wasn’t. The scoreboard crawled to 25/2 in the first ten overs. Early breakthroughs from Kranti Goud (3/20) and Deepti Sharma kept Pakistan on the back foot.

Sidra Amin was the lone warrior for Pakistan. Her gritty 81 off 106 balls not only earned her applause but also made her the highest individual scorer for Pakistan against India in Women’s ODIs. Sadly, she ran out of partners as wickets kept tumbling. Once she fell to Sneh Rana, the result was inevitable. Pakistan were bowled out for 159 in 43 overs.

India’s bowlers deserve credit. Goud’s control with the new ball was impressive, while Deepti and Rana maintained pressure throughout. However, India’s fielding was far from perfect three dropped catches, including two off Sidra Amin, stood out as reminders that there’s work to be done.

The Decision Review System (DRS) calls were also wasteful. India used both reviews poorly one for a questionable LBW and another for a leg-side nick that clearly wasn’t there. Against stronger teams like Australia or South Africa, these small errors could cost big.

With two wins in two matches, India now sit comfortably at the top of the Women’s World Cup 2025 points table with a healthy net run rate of +1.505. Their next challenge will be against Laura Wolvaardt’s South Africa on October 9 in Vizag a fixture that could truly test their middle order’s stability.

If India fix their fielding and batting rhythm, their unbeaten run might continue deep into the tournament.

Indian women’s cricket team players Deepti Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur share a smile after defeating Pakistan in the India vs Pakistan Women’s ODI 2025.

Every India vs Pakistan Women’s ODI carries its own drama, pride, and story. This one was no different. Even though India weren’t at their best, they were professional enough to win comfortably and that’s what champions do.
